Trust Without Proof

I am beginning to understand trust is not always something you can explain while you are inside of it. Sometimes it asks you to move before the evidence arrives. Before the clarity. Before the reassurance. And for a long time, that frightened me. I wanted certainty before commitment. I wanted proof before surrender.

But these walks have been teaching me another language entirely. Every day I chose to return to myself, even when discomfort still lingered somewhere beneath the surface. Not because I had all the answers, but because something in my body kept whispering keep going. So I listened. I kept listening to me. No one else. I had a moment for myself.

What surprised me most was how alive I began to feel once I stopped monitoring every emotion for confirmation. The more I walked, the less I needed to convince myself I was healing. My body already knew. The soreness is my reward because it wasn’t intentional pain. It was my body restoring and building itself. The confidence returning to me natural and steady. Quiet. Rooted like the earth beneath my feet reminding me stability in my body is what I needed.

I think devotion is often misunderstood. People imagine grand gestures, endless sacrifice, dramatic transformation. But devotion can also look like repetition. Choosing yourself over and over again without needing to be witnessed doing it. Trusting the process before you can fully measure the outcome. Letting your body become a place you return to instead of a place you abandon the moment uncertainty appears.

The military taught me how to push through discomfort. But this season is teaching me how to stay present inside of it. That is a different kind of strength entirely. Softer. More intimate. More honest.

And maybe trust without proof is not about pretending fear does not exist. Maybe it is about no longer needing fear to make every decision for you.
